| Just wanted to put up a quick update for anyone who still actually reads this.
Nathan and I moved to Round Rock, TX last Thursday. We currently live with Neal, Nathan's "other brother" in a house. On the way down here, our car died at the Texas line. We managed to tow it down here to a mechanic that Neal knew, who told us today that we would have to replace the engine. Since our car has seen a lot of miles in its day, it will probably be most economical to simply buy another car. Not real sure what we're going to do. For the mean time, we're able to walk to all necessities and borrow Neal's car for anything else. Nathan has been to a job fair today and probably one tomorrow. I've sent out my resume to several places, but nothing too promising. We'll see.
God has us here, and that we are certain of. Everything else is sort of up in the air.

| Southern Illinois is greatly flooded right now. It looks like we live on the coast...or maybe on the shore of a great lake. We merely live off the banks of the Wabash River which has been flooded since November. Within the past couple of weeks, any other stream, river, ditch or waterway has also been overflowing. Roads are completely underwater. Water is flowing in places that it normally isn't at all. Bridges are also closed due to the water rushing over. It's a crazy (wet) place right now.
Yesterday as Nathan and I were heading back home, looking out over many fields (corn and soybean, usually) that are flooded currently, I made the comment that it really makes me want to go canoing. I just thought it would be a fun thing to say that I had done...canoed in our neighbors field. I mean, how often do you get to canoe in a field. However, it was quite cold yesterday, and still raining, and our canoe is in TN. Therefore, I cannot go canoing in our neighbors field.
Then, today we realized around lunch time that our basement is flooded. Nathan did a little work clearing the drain and trying to find out where the water was coming from. Finally we found that we have a nice little flow of water coming up from a crack in our basement floor. In order to better see where the water was coming in, we had to move the water from the front of our basement, to the backside. We did this by sweeping it toward the drain.
I did this with the same movement that I would use if I were canoing. Yep, God still allowed me to enjoy canoing today, just in a slightly different fashion than I had anticipated. The sites to see were a little less amazing than I would have seen if I were in the field, but they were unique none the less. | | |
| I knew that it had been a while since I wrote anything on this, but I didn't realize it had been THAT long.
Do you guys even know that we moved to Illinois and not Alabama? Did
you know that I don't have a job and that I travel with my husband? Did
you know that I went from living in one of the largest cities in the
world, to one of the largest cities in Tennessee, to one of the
smallest towns? Did you know that I live in an amazing 130 year old
Victorian house that has had a massive mouse problem?
Oh, the stories you have missed because I have been a slacker. I
am so sorry about that. You know, you should have called me out
on it.
Well, let's see if I can quickly fill you in...
Nathan and I moved to Grayville, IL in August, which is the exact
center of my husband's map delivery route. We found a rental
house (the only house for rent in Grayville) by asking the women at the
front desk of the Super 8 we stayed in while we were house
hunting. It turns out it is a 7 bedroom, 2-story, Victorian
house, complete with a breakfast nook and bread room. We very
quickly fell in love with the house, our neighbors and Grayville.
We started attending First Baptist Church and were quickly adopted into
a family there. (Did I mention that we truly love Grayville? 1800
people.)
About a week and a half of living in our beautiful house, we discovered
that we had a minor mouse problem...meaning they ate a whole loaf of
bread, some whole wheat pasta and all our ramen. Yeah, in
total we ended up "removing" 12 mice from our house. Needless to
say, I don't find the house quite as endearing after that
incident. Oh yeah, and did I mention that we caugt 10 in one
day? Anyways, it's been a month since we've seen any...
Umm....I guess that pretty much leads me up to today.
Nathan and I have now been married for one year! I can truly say that I
love being married. We have had an absolutely amazing year, with
some of the highest highs and the lowest lows. All in all, I
don't think I could possibly ask for it to have been any
different. Praise be to God!
(To all of you who were able to attend our wedding, and to those of you
who helped out in so many ways, thank you so much for helping to make
that one day in time so meaningful for the two of us!)

| If anyone is ever passing through Newberry, SC, you should stop and eat
at Ronnie's (it's in the Bear *something* shopping center). It's
really good southern cooking. Excellent catfish!

| So, we are still moving...that's for sure. We just don't know exactly where or when. I do know that next Wednesday is my last day of work (which happens to be one year to the day that I returned from Japan). It was extended a bit. It's truly bittersweet. Then, we have to be out of this house by Friday morning. And....we're off...
Nathan and I will be all over South Carolina, parts of Florida and Alabama and we'll have a week in Montana as well. Eventually, we'll settle somewhere South.
That's our brief update. I'll keep you posted (or at least I will intend to).
By the way, is anyone in need of a car?
